stripe inspiration

I went to San Nicolas, a town 150 km north of Buenos Aires, and visited my grandfather's cousin. Her name is Beba, and she is 89 years old. Her whole house was  utterly corky and cute, and, I must admit she seemed to be a hoarder (it takes one to know one) but every single little mug and pin went great with everything and it was all so comfy and homely, it was amazing!!

the bible

Every once in a while I re-read the magnificent Teen Vogue Handbook to learn something new. And this is exactly what I did today, at 6:40 am, trying to avoid reading more about the very (and always) chaotic  Argentine politics.
Today my discovery had very much to do with Vogue's approaching 120 year anniversary: it was an interview with the Vogue editor-in-chief Miranda Presley Anna Wintour.
She spoke about her first cover  (Nov '88) and said: (below)

“It was November 1988, and starred the gorgeous Israeli model Michaela Bercu, photographed by Peter Lindberghand styled by Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele. Michaela was wearing an haute couture Christian Lacroix jacket with a beaded cross, all very Like a Prayer, and stonewashed Guess jeans. The jacket was actually part of a suit, but the skirt didn’t fit Michaela; she had been on vacation back home in Israel and had gained a little weight. Not that that mattered. In fact, it only served to reinforce the idea to take couture’s haughty grandeur and playfully throw it headlong into real life and see what happened.”
"I had just looked at that picture and sensed the winds of change. And you can’t ask for more from a cover image than that."

I particularly like this (Nov '88) cover  because of the message it is conveying: models are not perfect, or how the title states:  "the real cost of looking good" It is always good to remember that couture does have, in fact, very unreal standards. And I have to admit, the cover is incredibly fresh and youthful, very naif yet fashionable.
According to an article by slate.com, Vogue had become rather "boring" under Grace Mirabella, the woman that had been the editor-in-chief of Vogue for the prior 17 years. Anna Wintour's first cover seems to have an especially fresh outlook, and is very fitting to set the tone for change.

today's lesson

AMEN.

fashion crush, Prague edition

I have to admit I had a huge fashion crush on this girl I saw @PRAGUE. I also kind of followed her for a while, not that I'm a stalker or anything.. (and that was a joke for all the creepers out there).
A Chanel purse, a little black dress- with a peplum- ,  a Michael Kors gold watch, and yes (everyone calm down now) she was french.

PS I made this...

If you're every looking for really fun & easy things to do, you should really check this page out.
"PS I made this" has been one of my most recent fashion online finds, honestly I've been addicted and turning to my creative side lately (as a stress outlet.. or maybe just another of my many ways to procrastinate so as to avoid studying... who knows...)
But that's beside the point, not only does the webpage have very cool inspirational mood boards, but it has very easy to follow, step-by-step diy's.
