An affair to remember

The beautiful Solange Knowles had the ultimate indie wedding with everything from an all-white dress code to yellow school buses and adorable bikes.

By now you have all probably heard about Solange's gorgeous all-white indie wedding. (Be)yonce's fashionable DJ sister tied the knot in New Orleans.

The bride wore a total of 6 outfits in her different events, this post shows my two favorite looks: the rich cream pantsuit, and the elegant dress with a beautiful cape.
Above, the gown and matching cape designed by Humberto Leon for Kenzo. The groom, Alan Ferguson, wears an all-white Lanvin suit.
The pantsuit was designed by Stephen Rolland.

In an interview, Solange said: “It’s basically breaking every wedding rule in the book.”

All-white: the wedding party stuck to the dress code.
And of course, to no one's surprise, the wedding got the Vogue treatment.

What are your thoughts on Solange's ultimate indie wedding? Are you as wedding crazy as I am right now?

All the best

I love the clean cuts, the sophisticated looks and the beautiful fabrics. What do you think of the Olivia Pope look?

Model citizen: Gigi Hadid

The fashion world's latest it girl: Gigi Hadid.
She's half-Dutch half-Palestinian: her mother is a former model -and real housewife of BH- and her father is a famous architect.
The gorgeous blonde superstar took NY fashion week by storm, and is currently getting ready to go to London FW.

Gigi attends The New School (in New York City), she started modeling at age 2 for GUESS and is currently being represented by IMG.

(&legs for days)

'Tis the season. Fashion week is upon us, fashionistas from all over the world gather in the city that never sleeps

Pictures by The Cut- ( and )

What do you think of this seasons latest styles?
First of all, nobody pulls off the mother-to-be style like the always stylish Mira Duma and the modern Eva Chen. Aimee Song has an incredibly cute blue ensemble, and the fashion editors (Hanneli, Sarah, etc) all rock different looks sticking to one style.

What do you think?

Rebel girl gone good: Jamie King

Jamie King.
I recently came across a vintage New York Times Magazine article on the former supermodel (and then 16-year-old) Jamie King, known as James King.

The article was written in 1996 by the famous author Jennifer Egan, who shadowed the young model during both Paris and New York fashion weeks.

When describing James, Egan wrote:

James seems quite childlike at times -- she's easily distracted, prone to slouching and staring into space, then snapping to attention in a fit of enthusiasm. She's physically affectionate in a sweet, unself-conscious way, always hugging people and leaning against them. She can be insecure, like the time she accused a Company Management driver of preferring to drive another model rather than herself, then stalked away, looking as if she might cry.
Yet other moments she seems much older than 16, so jaded as to be unshockable. She has a pierced nipple, a large tattoo of a winged fairy on her lower back (...) These contradictions are all present, somehow, in her face, which looks
freshly minted in its innocence yet, somehow, knowing.

To read the full 8-page article click here,
and get a glimpse of the glamorous-yet- somewhat notorious 90s fashion scene
Egan describes every aspect of the backstage fashion scene, from Naomi and Kate sightings, to the difference between editorial, advertising and catalogue rates.

What do you think of Jamie King?
I have to say she is one of my favorite 90s model so far, (a long way from her Lemon Breeland persona on Hart of Dixie).

Emma Ferrer: the fashion heiress

Emma Ferrer is the 20 year old granddaughter of the beautiful and timeless icon: Audrey Hepburn.  You can see her this month in her debut cover for Harper's Bazaar.

True to her legacy, the gorgeous Emma Ferrer channels her inner Audrey with poise and sophistication.

Furthermore, Richard Avedon's grandson was the chosen photographer for the shoot -Audrey was said to be Avedon's muse, he photographed her dozens of times and was even a consultant on Funny Face.

Ferrer grew up in Florence -although the first ten years of her life were spent in LA. She currently studies  in the art academy of Florence.

When asked by the Bazaar journalist if she had anything of Audrey's, Emma answered: "All I can think of are her cashmere turtlenecks, which I adore and wear all throughout the winter"

Below, some of my favorite shots from the Bazaar Sept. issue:

Emma, the spitting image of her grandmother, wears a beautiful Carolina Herrera gown.

Above, Emma in an extravagantly chic Ralph Lauren jacket.

A Tod's jacket and Bvlgari earrings. Need I say more?

What do you think of Audrey's granddaughter?
Do you like the Audrey inspired editorial?

March Madness

The March happenings.
The forever-fashionable Hollywood stars.

I thought I could start with Hollywood's latest comedy gal: Lena Dunham, and her gorgeous Glamour cover.
I love Lena Dunham. There is just no way around it.
Although she gets a lot of (mostly nudity-related) grief for her controversial show, I think she is such a strong and powerful role model for women today.
Not only does the 27-year-old have her own HBO series -which she writes, directs and stars-, the woman is not afraid to speak her opinion. I loved that she took a stand in the whole Dylan Farrow scandal, and that she wasn't afraid to speak her mind even if it might be going against one of Hollywood's legendary directors.

Lara Stone and the Game of Thrones's Kit Harington, grace the pages of Vogue and look absolutely perfect.
The pair was photographed by Peter Lindbergh, and the end result was something between a fantasy and a fairytale.

The ultimate power suit. YES.
Mindy Kaling is probably one of the coolest chicks in Hollywood.
The writer-actress-producer-comedian is not only adorably quirky and funny, but she is as fashionable as they come, with the ultimate girly girl style.
Mindy wore this gorgeous coral-pink power suit to the SXSW Festival. Adorned with a beautiful necklace and color-blocking with the shoes.

What do you think?

Chanel Glamorizes everyday routines

All hail Chanel.
The fashion power house has once again managed to surprise us all with its latest fall/winter Paris fashion show.
This year, the fabulous Karl Lagerfeld orchestrated a faux supermarket -with everything from trolleys to non-perishables and cash registers.
The models treaded down the supermarket aisles runway, embodying the dazzling and debonair housewives we are used to seeing in amc's Mad Men.
Although a raging feminist myself -hence I have a natural hatred for the portrayal of women in the 50s-, I loved the Chanel supermarket. Lagerfeld always finds a way to surprise us (remember last year's art gallery?), and this year was no different.

Moreover, Lagerfeld described his latest fashion show masterpiece as "un grand magasin" or a huge megastore. His attention to detail is also evident in all of the labels (all Chanel products) and every aspect of the show -including the signs and trolleys.

In an interview with the NY Times, Karl Lagerfeld said:

"Why a supermarket? It is something of today's life and even people who dress at Chanel go there- it's a modern statement for expensive things"

The atmosphere: rows and rows of supermarket non-perishables and perishables decked with the gorgeous CC logo.
At the end of the show, fashionistas could take Chanel's fresh produce and candies.

The names of the products were a play of words with all things Chanel:
from a can of tuna named "Delice de Gabrielle" to Cambon cheese (in honor of the Rue de Cambon, where she had her first shop).

And the collection was absolutely amazing!

Epitomizing a fashionable remake of Olivia Newton's Let's get physical (the pink jumpsuits), but of course with the undeniable Chanel glamour, largely due to the ever-present tweed.

Pearls, prints, leggings and sneakers. The collection was a hit everywhere, and it probably is one of my favorite Chanel collections.

What do you think?
Are you a fan of Lagerfeld's over the top fashion show-experiences?
What do you think of Chanel's new sporty collection?
I simply can't get enough of it..

✬Oscars: Fashion Repercussions✬

The OSCARS. The culmination of Hollywood glamour
Above, all the fabulous gowns worn by all the Academy Award winners. From Audrey Hepburn's white Givenchy to Gwyneth Paltrow's pink princess Ralph Lauren gown.

The Oscars are the perfect event for designers to showcase their most beautiful haute couture creations, at the hand of their hand- picked movie star.

Below, a few of the gorgeous gowns that graced this year's Oscar's red carpet:

Lupita Nyong'o in Prada, Charlize Theron in Dior, Amy Adams in Gucci
and Jennifer Lawrence in Dior.

Cate Blanchett in Armani, Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab, Jessica Biel in Chanel
and Kristen Bell in Cavalli.

Naomi watts in Calvin Klein, Kate Hudson in Versace, Camila Alves in Gabriela Cadena
and Jada Pinkett-Smith in Versace as well.

Anne Hathaway in Gucci, Emma Watson in Vera Wang, Anna Kendrick in J Mendel
and Julia Roberts in Givenchy.

There were a lot of bold colors and sheer fabrics, with little to no cleavage.

What do you think of this year's Oscar dresses?

I have to admit one of my favorite gowns has to be Camila Alves's soft pink Gabriela Cadena. The gown is girly and classic, with a long drape of fabric on one side. It compliments her glowing olive skin beautifully and it has an amazing fall.

What do you think?

Thank you for visiting!
