The two time oscar wninner actress: Elizabeth Taylor passed awaythe 23 of March. World-wide known for her beautiful violet eyes, her role as Cleopatra and her classic hollywood persona.
According to ABC webpage this is what her son said:

"My Mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love," Taylor's son, Michael Wilding, said in a statement. "Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world. Her remarkable body of work in film, her ongoing success as a businesswoman, and her brave and relentless advocacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS, all make us all incredibly proud of what she accomplished. Buenos Aires Fashion Week: Feb

BAF Week took place in the end of February, and two days before I received a call from a local teen magazine "para teens" asking me if I wanted to cover the show. I was ecstatic. Honestly, I was so so so psyched. I got to go backstage, which was awesome, and I even spoke to some of the models (which were Brazilian, of course-> click here to see a pic of them). I sat front row, and I was blissful, seriously I was exuding happiness. Above there is just a glimpse of what that experience was like, showing the last walk of the fashion show of ComoQuieres.

Art persona: Nadia Plesner

Nadia Plesner is a danish artist as her home page (www.nadiaplesner.com) says :

"The disappearing boundaries between the editorial and advertising departments in the media is a central theme in Plesner's works."

On her most popular work of art she does a modern version of Picasso's Guernica, with the title of "Dafurnica", which shows a sort of collage that contrasts the genocide in Darfur, with what was "headline worthy" at the time (Paris Hilton scandals, Britney's shaved head, dunno.. same old same old.)

She is now being sued by Louis Vuitton because of using their logo in her art piece.

I couldn't be more enraged. She is making a statement, expressing what she believes in the most striking way possible as to grab our attention, and she is right, Isn't that what art is supposed to be about? it is very lamentable that we choose to focus in what is superficial, scandals.. instead of seeing the bigger picture: people were at war and we were reading about Paris Hilton's dog? Britney's hair? It really helps us put things into perspective .

I'm telling you, italian vogue is the best vogue there is. It's fashion in the real world. With real world issues. This month, italian vogue focused on the oil spills with model, Kristen McMenamy:

and, of course, it.vogue is present in every little detail, the seaweed necklace isn't really seaweed, it's " a piece fashioned from recycled inner tubes sourced from the Gulf Coast. " (the cut). Now that, that is dedication to a cover. Everything is consistent, the models dead pose, the actual recycled seaweed necklace, the scenery...

Rachel Bilson -former The OC star- is teaming up with Coach to raise some money for the charity: The Art of Elysium

She chose three of her favorite handbags of the Poppy Coach collection, and part of the profit of these handbags will be donated to charity. (until August 4th)

I absolutely love Poppy Coach it's sooooooo pretty. And of course, extremely preppy which is just the cherry on top of the cake.

I love all of the Poppy ads, I remember seeing them everywhere when I walked around NYC. :) It really does take me back.

As we all might've heard, Madonna and her daughter are designing a line for Macy's called: Material Girl.

And by the looks of it, it will be aw e s o m e! It will be on stores 08/03, can't wait!

So I've been literally googling to see more of this collection and I came across the official online site for Material Girl, which also happens to have a blog written by non other but Madonna's heiress/ very fashionable daughter Lourdes Lola Ciccone!

To add another twist to this fabulous collection, the you tube preview (which is also in the official site) has a model (not Madonna nor Lola), and.. we won't find out who she's till the collection premiers! Seriously I'm so curiious. My guess is she is Taylor Momsen (better known as Jenny Humphrey). So really it's perfect I absolutely love this combination of people!

The Vision of the company was to be the first traditional Argentine brand. (They have of course achieved it, not only nationally but internationally as well)

This image is their 2010/2011 summer add campaign. This collection was inspired by a province: San Juan (for instance the violet grape tones, earthy tones, leather, linen, black&white)

I like it, but it's sort of casual but elegant at the same time. And I love the colors!!

I'm sorry I haven't been posting for a while,

I've been having pretty tough exams, and I just got back from Paris...

Well actually that's not the whole story, I was supposed to be there for two weeks, but because of a family emergency I had to come back three days after I had left.... :(

But thankfully, I had a taste of lovely and beautiful Paris. The city of lights, what can I say? it was amazing!

The Sartorialist's fashion blogger: Scott Schumann, recently did a fashion editorial of Vogue Pelle.

The whole shoot was based on one picture he had taken with his cellphone of a fashion blogger shooting a fashion editor. He writes:

Giovanna Battaglia (Fashion Director of Vogue Pelle and Sartorialist Super-All-Star) took this shot of Garance with her cellphone, while Garance was shooting her, and I was in the background shooting both of them....is that clear? (..) a couple of weeks later Giovanna showed me the picture on her cellphone and asked me to do a full story for Vogue Pelle, based on the idea of the "cool, blogger girl".

Todd Marshard is an american photographer. He started studying fashion in Parsons School of Design but later, realizing how time consuming it was, he took on photography.

Last year he did a campaign for Akiabara (a local Argentine brand) and the pictures were BEAUTIFUL!

This brand also imported a fresh face: Kendra Spears (nineteen year old -sociology major dropout- ford model).

No pude sacar más fotos porque cada vez que sacaba mi cámara todos me miraban fijo y luego miraban mi cámara, ¿cómo iba a saber que en teoría está mal sacar fotos en el shopping?

What are toms?

Toms are shoes (in spanish called "alpargatas"), they were founded on a simple premise: For every pair purchased, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. One for One.

a little history:

the founder -Blake Mycoskie- started this company after his 2006 visit to Argentina, because not ony where the children not allowed to go to school (without shoes) but there are soil transmitted diseases which primarily affect people that are bare foot.

achievements so far:

Last year TOMS SHOES- donated 140,000 pairs of shoes to children in Argentina, Ethiopia, South Africa and even children in the United States.

Mathew Williamson's window display is a GG spoiler. The window says "What did Chuck do?" & it shows a fallen Blair with a very cute white silk halter dress (the dress she will wear on the April 5th episode! which is part of Williamson's spring collection) & there's also another window display that reads: "Tune In" (definitely going to! )

What an original way to catch the watchers' attention, and to keep people interested!

Here's what Eric Daman says about the white dress: "I wanted it to represent innocence, purity, vulnerability - characteristics that are not usually explored with Blair's character," "So the creamy draped chiffon was...[the] perfect incarnation to give a nod to Blair a la Joan of Arc or Fray Wray."

So, of course, we love Heritage 1981 (I love the name also, I don't know why, I just find it appealing, don't you? heritage 1981)
Another of my guilty pleasures is ANTM
So, of course, what's not to love of the new heritage 1981 ad campaign (modeled by former ANTM winner, Nicole Fox?

I honestly love this shoot. It's got that kind of 70s-retro thing going on, it really works for me.

I like how the first picture is blurry and out of focus, very cool clothes too ;)

Would you buy it? Do you prefer this bottle? I personally always love when Coca Cola does things like this. It's very creative and refreshing, a great way to renew people's attention.

I just finished watching The Blind Side and it was awesome! I loved it. I was prepared for a horrible drama (and I was preparedfor crying my heart out), but it ended happily :)
I loved Sandra Bullock's performance! IN CRE DI BLE!

But what I loved the most (I must admit) was Lily Collins (in the movie: Collins Oher)'s fashion. It's a very preppy-ish style with greys, pinks and solid (pastel) colors. Very private school-ish. But I LOVED it.

These are just a couple of movie stills I found on the internet, but you get the idea. Chemises, high waist grey skirt (love it!), cute loose dresses. Very pretty.
I must say, I hope we see more of Lily Collins (which just in case you didn't know, she's Phil Collins -singer/rocker-'s daughter)

While I was doing some fashion photographers' research I came across this Disney campaign photographed by non other than Annie Leibovitz.

Not only do I love her work, but I also love disney! (so this was the perfect combination!) And guess who else was a part of this project? scarlett johanssen, whoopie goldberg, jessica biel, roger federer, gisele bundchen, tina fay, just to name a few...

The pictures are from the 2007-08 Disney Dream Portrait Series.

Here's what USA today said about the shoot:

I just finished watching the september issue and I absolutely loved it!

if you haven't seen it yet I totally recommend it! a definite MUST.

why is the 'september' issue so important?

even if you're not that interested in fashion you MUST see this!

it really is fascinating. I adored all of the editorials they did (the color blocking one -the one with the camera guy BOB jumping- the JEAN PAUL one.) Grace Coddington is a true and utter artist. She comes up with all of this outfits, sceneries, she even dresses all of the models. UTTERLY FANTASTIC!

Here's what the nytimes said about her:

It would be simplistic to say that Grace Coddington, creative director, is the "real" reason for the success of vogue. She is truly is inspirational, nurturing, and down to earth. She is an emotional romantic whose beliefs infuse and shape in her work.

It also went on location, that is to say, they traveled all around Europe for different meetings, shoots, etc. So impressed. So amazed. (so jealous!)

I adore Vogue, and really this documentary was just great

It's a good idea, but really, how is going to pay that much? I mean I know a couple of celebrities can afford it, but high fashion should also be available to non-celebrity clients.

celebs new hobby: raise money for others

So celebrities have reached the point where they have raised enough money for themselves so, to pass the time, they decided to start raising some $$ for others.

Kidding (scratch the sarcasm), I actually think it's very nice & refreshing to see celebrities (actresses/models/singers/etc) trying to help those in need.

and the Award of the best citizen goes to.. Naomi Campbell for doing a couple of consecutive fashion shows to help Haiti!

Second came Kate Moss, who is doing a campaign of "Sport Relief" to buy mosquito nets for Africans in risk of malaria.

She said:

"I was shocked to hear that one child dies from malaria every 30 seconds. The dress incorpororates recycled malaria nets and is absolutely gorgeous, I loved wearing it and it's a great way to raise awareness."

I'm really liking Miley Cyrus' fashion spread on Teen Vogue.

I love the shirt and the pants. THE HEELS AND THE PURSE ARE JUST BEYOND COOL... utterly fantastic!

How cool would it be to be in a fashion shoot in PARIS? I think Miley would fall under the category of 'young&fabulous', because really, how many seventeen year olds (eighteen?) can say that they go to shoots on location (for instance PARIS) with their boyfriends, and they get to keep some of the clothes.

Celebrities designing is becoming more and more common each day. Is it that clothing lines think that the only way to engage a celebrity to endorse the product is to make them create it?

Madonna is designing a collection for teens inspired by -none other- than her daughter: Lourdes. The young fashionista has a very grunge, edgy look. The clothing line will debut at Macy's next year.

"We look forward to working with Madonna, Lourdes and the Iconix team," said Jeff Gennette, Macy's chief merchandising officer. "Madonna is a fashion icon who can bring a new dimension to our juniors customer."

young& fabulous: Blair, Elle & Tavi

So recently I started watching juicystar07's & allthatglitters21 (for any non-youtube fans, they're sisters) videos, and they're fantastic!

I've become so addicted it's almost weird haha:)

Blair is sixteen (I think) and she does you tube make up tutorials and also regular vlogs. And this fashion week she was the youngest make up artist ever to take part in NYFW. What an honor!

She also got to meet Katherine McPhee (american idol singer- House Bunny actress). (AND SHE EVEN GOT TO WALK ON A FEW SHOWS)!

Every once in a while she does a contest with really cool prizes you should check them out.

Anyways, I love how young people (teens, like myself) are starting to be part of "the real fashion world".

Her sister, Elle, (allthatglitters21) also does vlogs, make up tutorials and she does very cool beauty vlogs

Both of them (Elle&Blair) have a sort of online shop called "GLITZY GLAM" which has make up bags, lunch bags, and all sort of things, you should check it out, it's very cool!

Another example of young&fabulous is TAVI, the 14 year old blogger, who does front row reviews like I do my homework, she sells t shirts, collaborated with Rodarte for Target, has a column (and appeared in the cover) of POP magazine and to top it all off she has one of the most visited fashion blogs (over achiever maybe? haha:)

These girls (my idols basically), they get to be part of the fashion world, something most of us dream about all of our lives... ;) But they deserve it, imagine how hard it must be to post a video every other day or so (and do it for two years!), or in Tavi's case a blog post (which is not that hard, but the thing is shes got an ability to describe things and be herself at the same time which is just really interesting!)

I wish some day I had an opportunity like this, (secretly I'm kind of counting on it).

an amy winehouse inspired collection

Fred Perry, famous british fashion designer, is designing a collection inspired by none other than singer Amy Winehouse.

The marketing director said "Amy has been wearing Fred Perry for years, so we were aware she was a genuine fan of the brand. Amy has a unique sense of style that reflects the brand's own historical reference points."

The collection will debut this October!

As Vogue UK explained, it will mostly include "(Winehouse's signature look), including twinsets, skinny pencil skirts, capri pants, mini dresses, and polo shirts."

And rumor has it that Amy will participate in the designing. Can't wait to see what they come up with

After the whole oscar dress "Hit or miss" drama, I remembered one of my favorite dresses worn to the oscars.

If there's someone who knows how to dress is (one of my personal favorites) Penelope Cruz. She usually wears (like she did this year) mermaid cut dresses, but..

Didn't you just fall in love with the white dress she wore to the oscars last year?

Who would've thought we would reach the point were designers started importing icebergs from Sweden for a fashion show?

Chanel's fall fashion 2010 Paris show was all about ice. The watery runway, the high boots, the ruffles, is there any reason not to love Chanel?!

(I'm really liking those white outfits)

Although, I'll give you this, for a fall collection, aren't they a bit too warm?

When I first heard about this, I was anxious to know what it was all about. This is what the author, Candace Bushnell, said

"Carrie in high school did not follow the crowd , she led it. It was there that she began observing and commenting on the social scene."

my favorites so far..

First of all, I just came back from watching Alice In Wonderland, which was fantastic, I absolutely loved it. I didn't really like the original (cartoon) film, and -usually- I'm not a big Tim Burton fan, but this one was just fantastic!

I loved the characters, and I really liked Alice. Her character per se. Well actually: her clothes, all of her outfits are AMAZING, they're faded &a bit worn out, but at the same time they're kind of fun, and detailed. Plus it really fits and complements her character.

Well going back to the oscars, the first dress is a blue Monique Luhiler worn by none other than Bella Swan, (okay, Kristen Stewart), just beautiful. And it fits her incredibly well. Very cute, and nothing like her usual dresses (not so edgy) but beautiful on her!

the shiny gold & glittered, worn by Cameron Diaz, is Oscar de la Renta, need I say more? She pulled it off fantasticly! Very old hollywood & glam. Snaps for Cameron!

Miley looked great in this Jenny Packham. Our all time favorite disney star is proving herself as a fashionista!

Rachel MacAdams, another beautiful lady, looked great in this strapless Elie Saab, though I'm not huge on the pattern (but yes, I do love the pastels..), I love the shape of the dress (it reminds me of a pink dress Natalie Portman wore to an award show last year, remember that one?)

Demi Moore, rocked a beige Versace gown. I like the bottom part & the top, I just don't know if they go so well together considering that the top part is so charged. But still, beautiful and detailed gown. E for Effort. :)

Zoe Saldana, the Avatar star (though I still recognize her as the 'friend of Britney in Crossroads') wore a Givenchy gown. As Demi's, I like it, I just think it would look better seperatley (the bottom part is too 'heavy' and the top part has glitters, which in my book is a no-no). but we give this to her, it's eye catching, and in the oscars, i'm pretty sure that's (almost) all that matters.

Beyoncé's new ad campaign for House of Deréon (a brand owned by B herself & her mom, Tina Knowles) and they are absolutely chic!
This is what I love about celebrities, they are a franchise, they ve got the perfume (in B's case: Heat), the records, the -fashion- label, and eventually they open cosmetology schools (B just opened yesterday a cosmetology school in Dumbo New York), etc.
Thoughts?

La nueva campaña (primavera 2010) de Beyoncé para House of Deréon (una marca de Beyoncé y su mamá: Tina Knowles) han salído, y son absolutamente chic!
Esto es lo que amo de las celebrities de Hollywood, ellos/as no son sólo un nombre, son todo una franquicia. Tienen el perfume (en el caso de B, Heat), los CDs, la marca de ropa, etc.

What do you think? Do you like this pics? I love the first one, (which actually looks more like a beauty shot than a fashion ad, but still it's so PRETTY!) and of course, the girl knows how to strike a pose! there is no doubt about that. Fierce, just fierce.

my newest guilty pleasure

recently I became a fan of V MAGAZINE. the whole thing started a couple of weeks ago, when I was really bored watching TV re-runs. I came across a "The Rachel Zoe Project" re-run which really caught my attention.

She (RZ) had to look for clothes for an 80s- xanadu- inspired shoot, and she got all these really fun outfits, and I remember her saying something like "there's no fashion limit at V" which of course is AWESOME!

Do you likeV magazine? or is it too edgy/avant garde?

It seems like modelling isn't so time consuming. So models are deciding to branch out and start desiging.

At least two are.

Jessica Stam is going to collaborate with Rachel Roy, to create a capsule collection (macy's), which will be shown at the October New York Fashion Week. I'm excited! I love Jessica Stam's fashion, and I think she won't disappoint!

Also, Agyness Deyn is teaming up with Barney's Japan to design 11 items, her collection will debut on March 13

Not only did Avril Lavigne sing the "Alice' (movie theme) song, but she is now designing Alice In Wonderland themed clothes.

Her Abbey Dawn line will now include several "Alice in Wonderland " inspired clothing, it will be available at Kohls (March 5th)

Prada fall 2010 collection

"It's normal clothes," Miuccia Prada said backstage before her show. "Classics. Revising the things I did in the nineties." Behind her, models, hair done up in sixties beehives, were changing. Among them were Doutzen Kroes, Catherine McNeil, Lara Stone, and Miranda Kerr, young women whose relatively curvaceous beauty has generally exempted them from being cast as exemplars of female gorgeousness on runways such as Prada´s for the last few years.

I find it great, that Prada is starting to use healthier women, models.

I actually liked these two, though the whole collection wasn´t really what I expected, these two are nice. And I love how they are starting to use healthier models, and not the skinny-bone models.

Yesterday i went to the last day of buenos aires fashion week (yay!). (I got tickets to three of the fashion shows! by basically going to the store and begging for them)

So heres what the first one looked like:

the label is called John L. COOK. This one was one of my favorites, the show started with Ella Fitzgerald & Lewis Armstrong singing "Sweet Dreams", everyone was silent, lights were off, and music started.

The collection was a mix between preppy and old school glam, the first thing that came to my mind was The Aviator.

Ayer fui al último día de BAF week (Después de insistir y rogar en los negocios) finalmente ¡conseguí entradas! Estaba feliz.

Al primero que fui fue a John L Cook, que, honestamente fue uno de mis preferidos.

El show empezó con “Sweet Dreams” (Ella Fitzgerald & Lewis Armstrong), las luces apagadas, y la música…

Su colección consistía de un look preppy (college como lo llaman algunos) con un toque de glamour (lo primero que me vino a la mente fue El Aviador –la película -)

rayas rojas & negras, vestidos largos, florals, fue genial!

Of course, Buenos Aires is next to Milan Paris &New York. Was London sick?

Okay, so seriously I adore buenos aires fashion week, I don't know why, I guess it's because it's right down the block (literally), and not half-way around the world like most fashion weeks are. But it's not just that, it's that I get to see that there are a bunch of people out there from here, who are as fashion-lovin' as one can be.

I get to read about New York FW, Paris, FW (Milan FW, and -currently- London FW) but Buenos Aires FW is somewhere I actually get to go.. I know, it might not be the city that never sleeps, or the city of lights, but it's my city.

On the other hand, I didn't really make a lot of friends today, all the stylish fashionistas were looking at me probably thinking I was an unrespectful human being (because, the truth is, I was walking around La Rural -the place were BAFW is held- in non other than my school uniform, yup you read that right).

Anyways, I adored the decoration and the place. It's a huge lounge were there are stands of different (fashion related) things. Like for instance, Instituto Marangoni (an European fashion college), Paseo Alcorta (different fashion malls), some little cafe's-lounges were people can sit and relax (&drink), shops that would be sort of "sample sales", different mannequins with funny and creative outfits, etc. Conclusion: j'adore la semaine de la mode a buenos aires.

oh and to continue with my whole crazy alice in wonderland madness, at baf week there was a stand with fashion of the movie (an alice dress, a 'rabbit' dress, a white queen's, etc...). I like, I like (they're fun and creative -and sort of sexy, what do you think?) Do you?

A ver veamos, que nos puede llegar a gustar m'as que BAF WEEK? Leo sobre New York Fashion Week, sobre (actualmente) London Fashion Week. Pero Baf Week es otra cosa, es algo que nosostros podemos vivir acá, en Buenos Aires, algo que lo vivimos más personalmente.

Estando en BAF week, sin mucho que hacer aparte de dar vueltas por acá y por all;a (bancandome las miradas de todas las fashionistas que andaban por ahí debido a mi inoportuna vestimente es decir, en otras palabras, estaba lamentablemente en uniforme de colegio), me dirigí a uno de los stands del "Centro Metropolitano de Diseño" y créanlo o no, BS AS forma parte del programa "Red de Ciudades Creativas" (es más, fue una de las primeras seis ciudades a la que le otorgaron ese título –de acuerdo con el folleto), la chica que estaba en el stand nos conto (a mí y a mi mama) que un montón de diseñadores locales están exportando sus cosas a China (o Japón, no me acuerdo bien...) y que están teniendo un montón de éxito! eso me puso muy contenta, porque por fin reconocen el talento en donde lo hay.

Tomorrow my official coverage of Buenos Aires fashion week will begin! I know you might not be as enthused as I am, but believe me, Buenos Aires's fashion is good, in fact (dare I say) excellent! (Okay, it's no New York Fashion Week, no fashion under tents, but it's still pretty awesome)

Believe me, you won't be disappointed at all.
